Question & Answers

What does the standard BS EN 61439 mean?

The standard DIN EN/IEC 61439 replaced the standard 60439 at the end of 2014. The standard describes the design and test specifications for low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies. The standard defines the safety requirements for devices that are used to distribute electrical energy in industry, in private households and on construction sites. The standard guarantees a higher safety standard and is used, for example, for energy distributors, switchgear and distribution cabinets. More information can be found here

What kind of cable glands are advisable for protection type IP67 enclosures?

Rising temperatures can result in the formation of condensation in receptacle combinations. Special membrane screw connections for protection type IP 67 enclosures ensure an exchange of air and prevent evaporation. In practical application, feeding from below has proven to be effective.

What do I use a 7-pin device for?

7-pin plugs and sockets can be used, for example, to regulate, control and monitor devices in industry, agriculture and the trade. To this end, see also page 76-78 of our Industrial plugs and sockets catalog. Our 7-pin plugs and sockets can be found here.

Is there a stand available for the mobile EverGUM?

Our EverGUM® combination units are suitable for free-standing floor applications. A stand is therefore not required.

Does MENNEKES offer solutions that can be secured with a padlock or lock cylinder?

Yes, MENNEKES has several solutions available:

  • Our stainless steel receptacle combinations, CombiTOWER, energy bollards and Cepex receptacles are equipped with a lock cylinder and can therefore be locked – perfect protection against unauthorized access.
  • We would also be happy to equip our DUO interlocked receptacles and the windows of our receptacle combination enclosures with a padlock on request.

Could I also get AMAXX receptacle combinations with a terminal block?

A single feeder is used with these receptacle combinations as standard, for example, to a residual current circuit breaker. We would be happy to install a terminal block for larger supply lines or a conductor line on request and as specified by you, for example, with the dimensions: 2 x 5 x 25 square mm.

Is there a table with the protection types?

Yes - a current table with the IP protection types can be found here and in our Industrial plugs and sockets catalog on page 104.

What do I use a phase inverter product for?

If a three-phase motor runs in the incorrect direction, our phase inverter products solve the problem quickly and safely. Use a screwdriver to release the lock and turn the insulating section with the two phase pins - the motor will now run in the opposite direction. More information

Can I get a feedback signal from the CEE plug and socket?

Yes, for 63A and 125A receptacles and plugs and connectors, this can be done with a so-called pilot contact switch or a PCS (PilotContactSwitch). (Pay attention to the “P” index for the part number)
Pilot contact: this involves another sleeve being added to the internal wiring, which uses the standard pin on the plug to establish a lagging connection.
PCS: this involves a switch being installed in the internal wiring. It is a normally open contact with no potential, which is mechanically provided with a lagging current via the pin in the plug.
In both cases this has to be requested when ordering; retrofitting is not possible.
With some types of 16-amp and 32-amp receptacles it is possible to install an auxiliary switch: part no. 41000 (retrofitting possible). Relevant appropriate receptacles are listed in the MENNEKES catalogue.
